Madison has obtained a Master’s of Music in Voice Performance and Literature at
Western University, under the tutelage of Anita Krause-Wiebe. She made her operatic
debut in 2012 as Cherubino in Mozart’s ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ with SOLT. After an extensive few years in the opera world, singing various roles around the world (see performance resume), Madison decided to take a step back from Opera Singing to focus on her passion for Yoga, and how this ancient practice can benefit the voice.
In 2016, Madison completed her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training with the International Yoga Alliance. Confident in the benefits a regular yoga practice has for singers, she has created a specialized technique in yoga for singers. Last year Madison traveled to Rishikesh, India, to further her yoga studies and deepen her understanding of this ancient practice. Since returning to Toronto, Madison has founded her company "Yogapella ~ Yoga for Singers" and has been conducting specialized workshops in yoga for singers around the city. Most recently, Madison had the honour of hosting a yoga workshop at the Canadian Opera Company in their infamous Richard Bradshaw Ampetheatre. 2020 has been an interesting year for all, and Madison has adapted to the times by now offering 1 on 1 Vocal Empowerment Coaching through ZOOM. In these sessions she combined her extensive knowledge in vocal pedagogy with these ancient yogic practices to help her client drop into their bodies, and relax into their voices to prepare for truly healthy singing.
